Celebrating the athletes Hosting the party |

The Paralympic Winter Games in Torino celebrated their return to the country where the first Paralympic Games were held in Rome, 1960. Once again Ric Birch and Filmmaster combined to produce what has been hailed as by far the best Opening Ceremony ever seen at the Paralympic Games. Several new protocol items were established, adding weight and importance to the athletes, and in an important statement by the producers, almost all the performers in the show had disability of some sort. The performers gave a triumphant demonstration of what can happen when social barriers are removed and talent can flourish, providing a platform for the recognition of the skills and strengths of the Paralympians themselves.
